Pseudotsuga menziesii (Mirb.) Franco
Synonym : Abies menziesii Mirb.

Botanical profile :

Douglas fir is a conifer belonging to the genus Pseudotsuga Carrière and the species Pseudotsuga menziesii (Mirb.) Franco.
It is the only species of this genus used in perfumery.

Chemotypes :

Pseudotsuga Carrière gender groups at least 8 species, but only Pseudotsuga menziesii (Mirb.) Franco is used for fragrance.
We should also mention the presence of Pseudotsuga macrocarpa (Vasey) Mayr et Pseudotsuga sinensis Dode found in the USA and Southeast Asia.
