Botanical profile :
The evodia plant belongs to the Rutaceae family and to the Tetradium Lour. gender.
The Rutaceae family groups all the citrus, the bucchu, the amyris and the evodia.
Chemotypes :
Belonging to the Tetradium genus, nine recognized species are distributed across China, with minor occurrences in Eastern Europe and the Eastern US.
Out of the four most prominent species, only one has found a place in perfumery:
Tetradium ruticarpum (A.Juss.) T.G.Hartley, primarily cultivated in China for traditional medicinal use.

Uses in perfumery :
Evodia EO is a powerfull product, so its best to used in trace amounts.
It opens with a bold green-sulfurous character, evoking nuances of cannabis, chili pepper, and tropical fruits such as mango.
Especially effective in enhancing the head of a fragrance.
