Chemistry & Uses
Uses in perfumery :
Timbersilk® is used in woody notes of cedar, softened with an ambery facet, in oud notes, in chypre perfumes, floral, spicy and vanilic notes. It is a very versatile ingredient.
Year of discovery :
Data not available.
Natural availability :

Isomerism :
Timbersilk® is a mixture of three major Iso E Super® isomers. These isomers are positional ones, as the relocation of the double bond of the molecule makes the difference between the isomers.
Synthesis precursor :
Timbersilk® is not used for the synthesis of another compound of olfactive interest.
Synthesis route :
Timbersilk® is the result of a treatment over Iso E Super®, to concentrate some of its isomers (cf. image). The process for obtaining these isomers is kept secret by the company owning this ingredient's patent.
Stability :
Stable in perfumes and in diverse functional bases
Other comments :
Timbersilk® is much mor powerful than Iso E Super®. This latter molecule is composed of more than 20 different isomers, with only one that is very powerful. The aim of using Timbersilk® is then to concentrate the odoriferous principal of Iso E Super®.
